  1. Any GSAS Harvard Biotechnology Club member is eligible for Executive Board (EB) membership regardless of present/past status within the club, job position, race, color, creed, gender, or sexual orientation, in accordance with Harvard University's published non-discrimination policies.  Harvard-affiliation is not a prerequisite for EB membership.
  2. EB membership will be based on active participation in planning and executing club activities. As such, EB membership will be contingent upon significant contribution to bringing a project to completion.  Below are three standard projects that would each qualify you for membership.  Other qualifying projects may be negotiated with the managing directors.  Only after a project is completed may membership to the EB be granted.

    A)  Planning and execution of a speaker event; see Event Planning page for details.  The speaker, topic, date,  and budget MUST be approved by a Managing Director before planning is begun.

Completion of event planning requires all of the following criteria being met:

    • Date/Time secured,
    • Room reserved,
    • Speaker(s) committed,
    • Event description posted on web,
    • Budget submitted to Director of Finance,
    • Other specific conditions set by Directors (see Article 3).

    B)  The writing and posting of a profile in the Industry Focus, pre-approved by the Industry Focus editor.

Completion of a profile requires all of the following criteria being met:

    • Interviews completed and transcribed from the tape into text format (a transcription service may be used).
    • Profile of company written
    • Transcripts submitted to Industry Focus editor and the interviewees for editing
    • Final approval and posting by Industry Focus editor.

    C)  The writing and posting of three (3) Company reviews for the Investment Group, all pre-approved by the appropriate managers. Contact the appropriate division manager for additional details.

  3. The Directors of the Biotech Club reserve the right to determine which projects will be sponsored, and proposals must be sanctioned by the Directors before they may be used as a basis for application to the EB.
  4. EB Membership will be granted on the date when an individual has completed the requirements outlined in Article 2 until either January 1st or July 1st, whichever date comes first.  On January 1st and July 1st, all EB members will evaluated for EB membership renewal.  Renewal of EB membership will be issued to those candidates who have requalified for EB membership. EB members who joined the EB in the preceding 3 months automatically requalify for EB membership renewal. For example, a general member may fulfill the application requirements, apply for EB Membership on September 1st, be an EB Member for 4 months until January 1, and then be evaluated by the Directors for EB membership renewal until July 1st.
  5. Requalification for EB membership may be accomplished as outlined in Article 2 of this document.  Once an individual becomes an EB member, if EB membership is not renewed at each subsequent evaluation, the individual will be removed from the Executive Board.
